Dress-a-Child Adventure Was a Great Experience
Giving is in the DNA of Kinetic – being there for each other and giving back to our community.
In the office, that means pitching in when the workload gets heavy. It means moving a project forward for a teammate who is under the weather or dealing with a day-care issue, sick child or family emergency.
Outside the office, it means joining Sam’s Run to raise awareness of mental health issues or bringing a festive Christmas Party to residents of the Rescue Mission Women and Children’s Shelter. Our team turns out throughout the year to support good causes and good people.
Recently, we contributed to the Salvation Army’s annual Dress-A-Child program. Ten members of the Kinetic team gathered bright and early at Walmart on Billings’ West End and connected with 10 young children for a $125 shopping spree.
Parents provided a list of their child’s clothing needs to volunteers, who then paired the children with an adult shopper. After introductions, the child and shopper were off into the aisles of Walmart, heading for shelves and racks full of pants, shirts, socks, shoes, snowboots, underwear, socks and other essentials. The kids were partners in the selection, choosing their favorite colors and styles. Their shyness evaporated as their shopping cart filled up with colorful coats, Disney-themed pajamas and other items on the list.
Then it was on to checkout and reuniting with the parents, who were very appreciative of the clothing provided to their child. (Some shoppers made a detour into the toy department and spent their own money on a toy for their new young friend.)
The Salvation Army of Yellowstone County’s Dress-A-Child program began in the 1980s to provide warm clothing to children in kindergarten through sixth grade. Our team was humbled and thankful for the experience and will be back again.
Coaches and sportswriters talk about “team chemistry” being a factor in a successful organization. At Kinetic, our chemistry is pretty special. It helps us do great things for our clients, our community and each other.
